Our beautiful country, Malaysia, is formed by around 32 million people with different races and religions. The official religion in Malaysia is Islam that 61.3% of Malaysian is Muslim. The other religion in Malaysia is Buddhism, Christianity, Hinduism and others. That means most of the Malaysian are loyal believers in religion, especially the older generation. These religious followers always said that religion makes them happier, healthier and more engaged in their community. Is that true? Will we be good without God?
From my personal experience, even my family’s religion is Taoism but I am sort of “inactively religious”.

For me, religion is a lesson which always remind us to be kind and disciplined. Religion is the belief which we follow and sometimes worships. Religion is the legendary story that teaches us history. Religion is a guideline for our life. However, It is not a must-have item for my life.
Sometime, I’ll consider religion to be an imposed addiction. If you are the one who is unable to separate religion with your life. You believe that religion is a belief that makes your life better. You will spend too much time, effort, and sometimes even money into religion. That’s why you will finally fall into the end of being addicted to religion..When you are too addicted to religion which you rely on your whole life to religion, it won’t be a healthy habit. Addicted to religion will change the way of how you think. You may be more close-minded compared to a non-religious person because the only knowledge you learned is from your religion. You will lose your target of life when you are too addicted to religion since you rely all on religion. When you are addicted to religion, it means that you get sucked into toxic versions of religion. What you only care deeply is to be doing good and living well which is actually not what religion wants us to be. Some of them even use religion as an excuse to run away from social and emotional problems which also isolate them from families, outside friends and activities.

So, do you think we can be good without God? My answer will be yes. We are all different individuals and I thrust that every religion can help us to become a better person, but that doesn’t mean that religion shall occupy our whole life. Religion is just a reminder to our life. It won’t make our life better just because we believe in it. We still need to step out of our comfort zone to solve all the problems. It is also not supposed to be a life habit. So, I think that we just need to always remember what religion teaches us and always do it sincerely. At the end, it will lead us to become a better person.
